St. John west of Allen, April 14, 1917 at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 4 days. She was married to John L. Jones on November 8, 1866 at Taylorsville, Ind. where they lived until Nov. 12, 1881, when they moved to Kansas, settling down at Miller, where they lived until her husband's death, Sept 13, 1905, then she moved to Osage City where she lived the rest of her life. To their union was born 10 children, 6 sons and 4 daughters, two sons, Alba and Hiram and one daughter, Lillie, having passed on before her. The remaining are, Mrs. Hattie E. O'Neill, of Manhattan, Kans., Mrs. R Melda Smith, of Russel Springs, Kans., Samuel B. Jones of Los Angeles, California [several names are unreadable], Fred Jones of Lee, Nev. and Homer Jones of Reading, Kans. all being present at the funeral but her son Fred of Lee, Nev. She was a devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor. She joined the M.E. Church at the age of 15 and the rest of her life was a faithful worker for the cause of God and there was never a day too short but she spent a portion of it in prayer and reading her Bible which was her constant companion whereever she went and her last words were, Victory, victory, victory, in the blood; don't pray that I may stay, but pray that I may go quickly." Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Allen M.P. Church, conducted by Brother Foster of Topeka, and the reamins were laid to rest besides those of her husband in the Ivy cemetery. William Conrad of Allen, conducting the funeral, which was largely attended. *Elizabeth was the daughter of John Allen Pence and Harriet Ellen Brown Pence of Bartholomew Co. Indiana
