John Carter married Nancy Ann Butner in Bartholomew County, Indiana. They then moved to Kansas for a few years, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) for a while, and finally settled permanently here in Pierce County, Washington. You mentioned that William Carter, James father, was a charter member of the church. Do you know which church they belonged to? So far none of the documents I have refer to a church affiliation and it would be nice to know. Your postings are well appreciated as they are giving me clues to where to search next for information.
