    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Morgan McAllister Harlan Bennett Carson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lh.2ADE/2611 Message Board Post: I am interested in possibly making a connection to the Morgans who lived in Franklin Co. IN. My ancestor, James Morgan, lived in Bartholomew Co. in 1850. He lived a couple of houses away from John and Julia McAllister. The McAllister family included two sons named John Morgan and Elias Morgan. (The 1860 census in Bartholomew Co., shows John's name as John W. Morgan.) Julian Morgan was head of household in Bartholomew Co. IN in 1840 with two sons and also a male who would have been Jame's age in 1840. There was not another female listed. Lorenzo Dow Morgan bought property Apr 19, 1839 in Bartholomew Co., but died Sep. 15, 1839 in Bartholomew Co. The deed said he was of Franklin Co. Indiana. There is a marriage record in Franklin Co. for Lorenzo D. Morgan and Julia Harlan. They were married Nov. 8, 1832. July Ann Morgan married John McAllister in Bartholomew Co. Mar. 28, 1841. I believe that my James Morgan, b. abt 1806-1810 in N. C. might have been related to Lorenzo Dow Morgan. Perhaps they were brothers. It may be that my James Morgan had a first marriage in Franklin Co., as there was a James Morgan who married an Elenor Jane Bennett in Franklin Co. Mar 17, 1840. My James Morgan married Martha Carson Feb. 24, 1842 in Bartholomew Co. IN. The 1850 census shows James as age 40, and Martha as 26. The Morgans mentioned above who lived in Bartholomew Co., lived in Rock Creek. My James Morgan named one of his sons Elias. My James Morgan and his wife are buried in Cave Springs Cemetery, in Jennings Co. He died May 10, 1878 at the age of 72. She died June 22, 1886 at the age of 57 y 9 ms 28 d. There was a John W. Morgan b. abt 1809 or 1810 in NC who lived in Blooming Grove, Franklin Co., IN. He died after 1880, but I don't know where. He was 70 on the 1880 census. Both of his parents were born in Maryland. Perhaps this John W. Morgan was related to my James and Lorenzo. Do you know of other Morgans who came to Franklin Co. who were from North Carolina? Any information you might share would be appreciated. I've had a hard time getting back on this line.
