There were Spurgeon's in Jackson Co In. in mid 1800's and before. I have family that was related to a sister of a Carolyn Prince, whose father donated land and helped build the Grassy Fork TWP first school house there near Brownstown. My Grt Uncle was the first school teacher in 1850 and had an affair with the dau. , Carolyn Prince and baby was a girl b in June 1851. They never mar.l and the baby given last name of Prince and mar. a Mace. had 10 ch. I have pictures of all the families etc. uncovered after 137 yrs.
