Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lh.2ADE/2562.2 Message Board Post: John W. Monroe's wife was Margaret Jane Moore, b. 11 Nov. 1836 Belmont Co., OH, d/o Solomon Moore and Mary Sarah Truex. (Margaret's older sister was my Matilda Moore who m. Moses Ward.) Margaret Moore married John Monroe on Feb. 5, 1859 in Brown Co., so she cannot be the mother of Clarinda J. Monroe. Margaret probably died between 1860 and 1864; John W. Monroe next married Sarah Ann Winchester on 28 June 1864 in Bartholomew Co. They are on 1870 census, Barth./Harrison/141, and have boys ages 10 & 12, but do not have either Clarinda or Mary in the household. What is your connection to this family?

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: ARTS, SHAFFER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lh.2ADE/2565 Message Board Post: My sister is in posession of a cedar chest that belonged to our great-grandmother, Teresa (Arts) Shaffer (d. 1946, but we don't know when she got the chest). The chest is about 3-4 feet long and at least 1-2 feed wide. Inside the chest there's what seems to be company information branded into the wood. What I could read is: [ ]ER Co Forest Park Lin[ ] [ ]rest Park IN So, my question is if anyone recognizes what the second line could be referring to. What type of worker (woodworker or furniture maker or other) would have made such a chest? Are city directories in which the company might be listed available for before 1946? How far would the company have shipped such a chest? As far as I know the family was never in Indiana. I'm posting this to both the Steuben and the Bartholomew county boards, since there is a location called Forest Park in both counties. Looking forward to any guesses.

The plaque donated by the Pitcher Family in 1961, was originally mounted to a stone wall surrounding the property. After a traffic accident the plaque was picked-up as evidence. In 2005 the plaque was found in the custody of the Department of Transportation. The plaque is currently residing in a storage room at the First Parish Church. It is our intention to have the plaque mounted on a permanent monument and re-dedicate it at the family reunion in October 2007. visit www.pitcherfamilyreunion.com
