Elijah married Naomi/Naoma Allen of Massachusetts. But as the baptism of any of William's children remains the mystery of the century, I am unable to prove this. Wm states in his Rev War Pension Application in 1831 that he lived in Indiana with one of his sons for the last 18 years but does not name the son. I have all kinds of evidence but no PROOF.

I know it takes so much time to do all of these and everyone should appreciate and applaud your efforts. Just keep me up to date. I hope to get up there sometime to "look around." I was in the Family History Library and copied everything I could on the county. By the way, Brigham Young University is in the process of copying all the books and putting them ONLINE! I haven't been to the site to look, but have heard about it. What a great resource that will be!

Listers, I am interested in tracking down more information on an Edward V. Harbin who got land in the county c1840. Could anyone tell me where S34T9R4 would have been? I do not know if he was the elderly father or a son by the same name and would appreciate any information from other records about him. He was in Washington Co, on the 1820 census and in Columbus in 1840 aged 70-80 but I am inclined to think it was a son buying the land in 1837 & 1840 . Do you have a death index for the 1840's? Thank you. Joan Marie in Oregon

Expect she was the daughter of John Ensley and Catharine Gates. Grant's was the ONLY early Stafford marriage in Bartholomew. Looks like there were several Stafford families in Shelby Co. in 1850--this would have been just across the county line from where the Ensleys and Grant & Eliza were living in 1850.
Greetings Anna: According to my set of books on Bartholomew County marriages: Ambrose Troutman married Jain Sawyers on 10 April 1825 It looks like Ambrose remarried within the year after the death of Jain: Ambrose Troutman married Sally Lewis on 11 January 1838 I do not find a marriage for William Franklin Troutman in these books. The marriage of Jain Sawyers to Ambrose Troutman is the only marriage for a person surnamed Sawyers in these books.
