They did live very close to the county line. Their youngest child was Cornelius Beaty who married Clarissa Beaty. This John was, I believe, a nephew to William Beaty, grandfather of both William Truman Beaty and William Tomas Beaty, whom I describe below. Another William T. Beaty living in Bartholomew County....His descendant, John Devroy, posted on the Beaty Project 2000. William Tomas was born in Bartholomew County but migrated with his family to Tipton County in 1851. He was orphaned when he was about 10-11 years old. His father David died in 1859, his mother Emily Akin Beaty in 1861, both in Tipton Co.. This William T. returned to Bartholomew Co., I believe, with his grandfather William Beaty, who reappeared there in 1870 and is found living with one of his sons, Darius Beaty, in Wayne Township. Generation No. 1 1. William Tomas4 Beaty (David3, William2, Thomas1) (Source: Information from John Devroy.) was born 10-Apr-1849. He married Minerva C. Low 24-Dec-1874 in Bartholomew Co., IN. McMillen? 02-May-1899 in Bartholomew Co., IN. Marriage Notes for Jennie Beaty and Clarence McMillen?: C14, 189, Bartholomew Co. marriage record. 3. " For Beatty, I have the first names: Jennie, William T., John Stewart, Harvey Jasper, Lulua Nice, Nellie Malissa." I don't have the others, but I do have a William Truman Beaty who was born in Tipton Co., IN, in 1856, but went to Bartholomew County at some later time. His father was John M. Beaty, born in Bartholomew Co., who migrated with his family to Tipton Co. in about 1851, and there married Mary Jane Purvis in 1855. John M. died in the Civil War. John M.'s father was William Beaty, mother Sarah Yocum. A number of Beaty family members who had migrated to Tipton Co. returned to Bartholomew Co. in the late 1860s, after many family members had succumbed to harsh conditions in Tipton Co. They rejoined family members who had stayed behind. This Beaty clan had migrated to Bartholomew Co. from Kentucky in about 1826. This family is identified as Lineage 198 in the Beaty Project 2000. I've done a lot of work on this family, with a lot of help from others, and would be glad to hear from anyone about them. There was another Beaty family in Bartholomew County who had migrated from Ohio. If there is a connection between the two families, we do not know it yet. It is not too easy to separate the Ohio Beatys out from the Kentucky Beatys, but possible! Virginia Nuta

    3. Hello Lisa: I mailed your photo today, so I hope you will receive it before Christmas. Please let me know if you recognize any of the other people in the photo. Thank you so much for all this information about addresses, etc. When you compare the photo with the current appearance, I wonder if it will be recognizable? Or if the address is still the same, but perhaps the old building was torn down and a new one built? This was the only relevant photo that I found on my last visit with my aunt. I KNOW there are other photos, including one of Charles H. Snyder as an older man (he had a long gray beard). But she has multiple photo albums plus alot of loose photos. So on my next visit, I will search for the other photos of which I think you would want copies (including ones of Charles H. Snyder, Addie (Snyder) Brooks, Laura (Snyder) Ogden's children, and also, I believe, M.U. Snyder. I'll even try to figure out how to scan photos in (I have the machine, just don't know if I have the software loaded or how to use it!). I don't think I have seen any photos of Charles 1st wife Lovina (but I have a photo of her gravemarker in the Hope Moravian Church cemetery - quite nice!). I am not certain about what happens if you attach photos onto messages to the message board -- it is worth a try! But I believe the Shelby Co, IN message board has a spam filter that filters out certain attachments: I have had to e-mail attachments directly to the manager of that board, so that she can post them. I would love for you to e-mail the photos of Marion and Sarah Jane. Also, I have some questions for you about the Snyders, but I will wait until after the New Year to get those together. I can't find each household for each census year and the trees on the internet have some discrepancies when compared with my information, so I'd like to get those sorted out. Laura (Snyder) Ogden's husband Dore was quite the inventor. Her family ended up in California. Dore invented some type of small car and also a wine filter. There is a lady named Evette Ogden who has information on that branch of the family. I did a search for anyone who gave their first name as Minna in the 1930 census of Pennsylvania (regrettably it was a common first name, so I had to narrow the search to PA only, based on your posting), and did not find anyone with that name born in England. I did a search for Minnie listing England as birthplace (regrettably, again, the 1930 index did not always list birthplace, and there are too many Minnies to look them all up.) If you are interested in the BMD record, I can get a photocopy. Reply to this message and I will send it to you. Best wishes Norm Dawson Calgary AB

I'm waiting to hear back from a local Carter family researcher, to see if she can confirm this. In the meantime, I have quite a bit of data about some of the other members of this family, and burial data on the parents. I DON'T have much on your James. Jehoda died here in Bartholomew Co. in 1896, buried at Hawcreek Baptist Cemetery. I had not searched hard for James, just couldn't find him on the 1850 census, and let it go at that. I am not a descendant of this family, just the local crazy genealogy lady, who knows where all the cemeteries are. I'm a member (and VP) of the local Genealogy Society, and try to answer queries wherever I can help. Contact me direct, if I can provide any info to you on this family. Donna

My James CARTER was born 17 May 1807, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Jehoda WILSON was born 7 Jan 1810 or 1811 in Kentucky. They were married 3 Jan 1828 in Bartholomew County, Indiana. This information came to me through a cousin's GEDCOM. Sadly he did not supply sources. So my job now is to go out and find the source documents to back up what he gave me. I have found their marriage in the Bartholomew County, Indiana, Marriage Registration Book. If these CARTERs match your CARTERs, please let me know, as I have informationn on one of their children, John CARTER, and his descendants. Also, if related, what you have posted here gives me parents and siblings for James CARTER. Thank you, Peggy Fleischmann Tacoma, Washington PS: I had hard returns for paragraphing, but it doesn't seem to work when I preview the message. Hopefully, it will work once I post it.

    3. Peggy, I imagine you may have a hard time proving the birth of James Carter in Bartholomew Co,IN(1807) since it(Bartholomew Co) wasnt established until 1821. You might want to start your search with Carter and Carter II cemetery in Columbus Township.
