Regarding the 1881 interview, it was conducted by Henry Abner Owens in Bartholomew Co. so perhaps the Bartholomew Co. Historical Society has it in their records. I have not seen a record of the interview. I was told that it is in a book titled William and Phebe Witt Owens Family History, written by Eloisa Jaqua Owens. The Family History Center has a record of this book as being in their collection but it is not available on microfilm or fiche so I don't have access to it. Previously I referred to a book written by Ruth Borchers on the Nathaniel Owens family. I received an e-mail from her that she has no copies of the book available to sell. I saw a reference to the book at the Nebraska State Historical Society webpage, but it wasn't as to how to get access to a copy, except perhaps by going to Nebraska.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lh.2ADE/2073 Message Board Post: I am inquiring about anyone having links to these surnames. I have found them repeatedly tied together and wondering what the ty is. These are the actual people that I am inquiring about. Nancy J. Ping who married John Westley Mayhew in 1879. It was said that they had a child named Pertle Mayhew Shaw but he was 8 when they were married. So this is a question that we have. Pertle Shaw married Ida Reddick in 1893. Ida Reddick was Rose Reddicks sister and best friend. Rose Reddick had a daughter in 1918 with John Ping. It is said that they were both 35 when the child was born in the birth certificate. John Ping left then and can't find who he was. Any information on any of these surnames would be appreciated. Or any ties into other families. PLEASE let me know. Thank you

There are others out there who have more information than I do.The Nathaniel Owens that I am referring to was the son of John Owens from Virginia (no other information). His brothers were Basil, John Jr., William, and Elijah (my g-g-g grandfather who died in 1835). Nathaniel married three times. First to Frances Turner, who died about January 18, 1826. They had one daughter that I know of, Minerva Ann Owens. Then he married Susannah Bass on May 31, 1827 in Bartholomew Co. Finally, he married Sarah Wishard on February 29, 1844 in Shelby Co., Indiana. I got my information from various cousins who researched the primary sources, including public records and notes from an interview conducted with Nathaniel Owens in 1881. Ruth A. Borchers wrote a book, The Descendants of Nathaniel Owens, Sr.: and Frances (Turner) Owens, Susannah (Bass) Owens, Sarah (Wishard) Hill Owens. I just came across the title recently and do not yet know how to purchase! a copy. Hope this helps.
