St. John west of Allen, April 14, 1917 at the age of 70 years, 2 months, and 4 days. She was married to John L. Jones on November 8, 1866 at Taylorsville, Ind. where they lived until Nov. 12, 1881, when they moved to Kansas, settling down at Miller, where they lived until her husband's death, Sept 13, 1905, then she moved to Osage City where she lived the rest of her life. To their union was born 10 children, 6 sons and 4 daughters, two sons, Alba and Hiram and one daughter, Lillie, having passed on before her. The remaining are, Mrs. Hattie E. O'Neill, of Manhattan, Kans., Mrs. R Melda Smith, of Russel Springs, Kans., Samuel B. Jones of Los Angeles, California [several names are unreadable], Fred Jones of Lee, Nev. and Homer Jones of Reading, Kans. all being present at the funeral but her son Fred of Lee, Nev. She was a devoted wife and mother and a good neighbor. She joined the M.E. Church at the age of 15 and the rest of her life was a faithful worker for the cause of God and there was never a day too short but she spent a portion of it in prayer and reading her Bible which was her constant companion whereever she went and her last words were, Victory, victory, victory, in the blood; don't pray that I may stay, but pray that I may go quickly." Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Allen M.P. Church, conducted by Brother Foster of Topeka, and the reamins were laid to rest besides those of her husband in the Ivy cemetery. William Conrad of Allen, conducting the funeral, which was largely attended. *Elizabeth was the daughter of John Allen Pence and Harriet Ellen Brown Pence of Bartholomew Co. Indiana

Talley and Minerva Jane Laws. Nelson was the son of John Talley (Tally) and Catherine Grady. John and Catherine were my ggggrandparents so I have lots of information back to this point. I don't have any solid information earlier than this. There is information suggesting than John's parents were John and Janey (Eakes) Talley but this doesn't check out on a number of points.

Josephine is buried at Springer with the Hammonds, but the rest of her family is buried at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. I check their records this morning on your Herron line. Josephine's father was John Herron, 21 Oct. 1850-28 Sept. 1931. The mother was Nancy Francina Davidson, 16 June 1851-7 Mar. 1935. Have not found the marriage of John Herron and Nancy Davidson; maybe in Jennings Co. Josephine's brothers were Lafayette David Herron, 2 Dec. 1875-18 Jan. 1954; and Thomas V. Herron, 21 Jan. 1888-9 Oct. 1959. All buried at Garland Brook. John Herron was born in Indiana, son of David Herron and Mary Bowers. They were married 6 Feb. 1848 in Deabron Co., IN. David and Mary Herron on 1850 census, Ohio Co. IN, p. 353; David, age 29, born Ohio, Mary age 21, born Penn. Nancy Davidson Herron was born in Ohio, daughter of John Davidson, mother listed as unknown on cemetery record. Send me your land address and I will check for Josephine's obit next time I'm at the library.

Surgeon. On 4/24/1863 he was commissioned into Field & Staff IN 93rd Infantry. Mustered out on 8/10/1865 at Memphis, TN. I have a portrait of him from my great grandfather’s photo album which I would like to share with any family member.

Catherine Isentrager Bocock trying to change her maiden name to Isentrigger. Do you know what type of book, Circuit Court etc ??? and date it was in. and where is it located. I would like to get a copy of it. She is my Great Aunt. Her much older half brother William spelled it Isentrigger so she thought he was right and she was wrong. She was wrong. It was William who had it spelled wrong. I find him under 6 different spelling in Bartholomew County . He might have been hiding from some of his 6or 7 wives. The unnamed chiled was Dillard Bocock.
