In the 1850 census, John says he is 29 years old and was born in IN (he is married to Phebe Jane Kysar). However, in the 1880 census (married now to Louisa Jane Kidwell), he says he was born in OH, father born in PA and mother in Canada. Oral family history says his father was Samuel Cox, but I've not found proof of it yet. Possible connection???

I descend from a Daniel Alexander Cox. We may not have his birth year correct...it's questionable for sure. We have just about worn out all resources trying to find ANY Daniel in Bartholomew County, so of course, I'm jumping on this. According to later census, he entered his father as from Ohio; his mother from Canada. Our family can not confirm any of this, since we can't even find a father for our Daniel. He later married Lucinda Jackson of Floyd County, Indiana, where they moved and I believe both he and Lucinda are buried.

His parents were Quakers from Ohio. I can recall that much. They were among the first families in Bartholomew County. Somewhere around here, I copied all the data. If you'd like and are able to do so, please go to the library in Columbus, since the info there is extensive.
