Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lh.2ADE/869.878.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi, Laurie: I have a lot of information on Joseph Robertson and descendants, although probably not info on parents of the Cummings girls. I'll need to get into my file and see what I can send you. Maybe you could let me know what else you already have to avoid overlap. One thing I note, you have Joseph b. in OH, but it looks like most family researchers have concluded he was b. in Middlesex County, NJ. and moved to MD and then OH w/wife. Also I show three wives for your Henry: 1 Nancy Beck, 2 Lydia Cummings 12/10/1835 (marriage license issued Dec 8 1835), 3 Leah Shaw 1876. An old cemetery reading shows Lydia buried in the Robertson Cemetery in Clay township, but it doesn't give any dates. It shows a daughter Margaret d. Aug 5 1856 or 1858 aaged 6 days; an infant son with no dates; Benjamin died 1861 aged 3 yrs. Henry is not listed. I don't see any Cummings but I am sure the list (someone sent me years ago) is incomplete. I will look around for other Cummings references in my Robertson file. I know there is another one who married Marjory John (d/o Bruce, s/o Loie Robertson John, d/o Jeptha, d/o Joseph, b/o your Henry) but that is many years down the ladder. I am descended from Jeptha s/o Joseph s/o Joseph. Have tons of information. Maybe we should correspond directly to I can find out more about what you already have and what you want. Maureen.

Surnames: Cumming, Cummings, Cummins, Commins, Robertson, Robinson, Yeley, Yealey, Cowden, Edwards, Critser, Critzer, Ford Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lh.2ADE/869.878.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I am also a descendant of Joseph Robertson (b. 1764 in Warren Co., Ohio; d. 1823 in Bartholomew Co., Indiana). Joseph Robertson's youngest child, Henry F. Robertson (b. Oct. 17, 1813; d. May 1, 1889), is my ggggrandfather. Recently I've been working on Henry F. Robertson's first wife, my ggggrandmother, Lydia Cummings (Cummins or Commins) (b. March 15, 1815 in TN; d. April 3, 1860 in Bartholomew Co., IN). I would dearly love to find out who her parents were. So far, I've looked at the 1830 Bartholomew Co., Indiana Census where it shows Joseph's sons, Esra Robinson (Robertson), James Robinson (Robertson), Wm Robinson (Robertson), and Joseph Robinson (Robertson) all as neighbors. Hugh Cummins (possibly related to Lydia?) is also listed as a nearby neighbor. I have a copy of Joseph Robertson's 1823 disposition of his property after his death which lists the people who received various articles from his estate. Among those listed are Rachel Robertson (his wife), Samuel Cowden (his daughter Rebecca's husband), Joseph Edwards (his daughter Sarah's husband), William Critser (his daughter Hannah's husband), Eli Critser (his daughter Martha's husband), John Yealey (Yeley) (his daughter Margaret's husband) and Frederick Ford (his daughter Rachel's father-in-law). In the 1850 Census for Clay Twp., Bartholomew Co., Indiana, Henry Robertson and Lydia (Cummings) are listed with their children Maria, Mary Jane, and Sebastian. Three houses away is an Andrew R. Cumming with his wife Nancy and their child Joseph Ab. Perhaps Andrew is a brother or some other relation to Lydia Cumming or Hugh Commins? So far I haven't been able to produce a clear link between them. I would be grateful for any help you could give. Thanks! Laurie

I shared this information with a fellow researcher who descended from Sarah Mitchell, wife of the eldest brother, James. 1. Charles Moore Klipsch obit, 1862-1938
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Klipsch, Hendrickson, Smith(aka Beeker) Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/lh.2ADE/2541 Message Board Post: Handwritten copy, presumably from unnamed newspaper. "Popular Local Ministser, Resident for 35 Years, Died at his Home Here Saturday Evening After Long Illness" "The Rev. Charles M Klipsch, widely known and much beloved minister of the General Baptist Church, died at his home in this city, at 9:30 o'clock Saturday evening, the 20th, inst. Mr Klipsch had been a sufferer from diabetes for some time and his condition for the past few weeks had been critical." "The funeral services will be conducted at the Presby- terian church in this city at 2:30 o'clock, this Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. John Ford, of Columbus, Ind., in charge, assissted by the Rev. Verner Preston, of this city, and interment will be made in Walnut Hills cemetery." "Mr Klipsch was the son of William and Rachael Hendrickson Klipsch and was born in Shelby county, Indiana, on the 28th day of October 1862, and was, at this passing, 75 years, 10 months, and 18 days of age. He received his education in Shelby county and in the neighboring county of Bartholomew, where the family later moved." "On May 15, 1884, he was married to Clara Smith, of Bartholomew county, who survives together with the following children, William, Orval, Ralph, Omer, John and Lewis Klipsch, all of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Anna Chappell, of Cincinnati." "Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs Sarah Cappes <sic> of Columbus, Ind., and Mrs Flora Kitchen, of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Woehler of Hope, Ind., and one brother, Frank Klipsch, of Hope, Ind." "It was 35 years ago that Mr and Mrs Klipsch moved from their home in Bartholomew county to this place and they had resided here since that time. Mr Klipsch quicklly took an active part in the religious and farming activities of the county. He was a farmer and a good one, but he was also an earnest God-fearing citizen who considered that his first duty was always to his neighbors and his friends. This was especially true in sickness, death, so in any sort of distress. No matter what he was doing or how busy he might be, Mr Klipsch would abandon his own vital interests if he thought it possible to console or relieve any neighbor or acquaintance who needed his ministrations. He sought in every way to follow the teachings of the Master in word and in his general conduct and his relations with the people with whom he came in contact. To him a sacrifice of his time and his personal interests was not a sacrifice but a real privilege to do the work the Master would have us al! l do." "Leading such a life, it is not surprising that he quickly came to be widely and favorably known after moving here. He was not only popular with other members of the ministerial profession but wherever he went. He soon became known to people throughout the state and was held in the same high regard by all of them, and if any man ever thoroughly deserved that regard, it was the Rev. Charles M. Klipsch." "Throughout his life, however, he was a farmer and devoted to the soil and to the occupation. Until his health failed he kept in close touch with the industsry and, in fact, farmed himself as long as he was able to do the worth that falls to the farmer's lot." "In this city he was known to everybody. While not an effusive man, he carried a warm heart and people soon came to understand that he was not a profes- sional hand-shaker but a man of wide sympathies, unfaltering in his devotions and one whose example in life it would be well for all of us to follow. He will be greatly missed here by all of us." "He was a devoted member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and belonged to the different auxilliaries of that Order."
