Hi Karen! My Grandfather was an engineer on the B & O Railroad that ran through Garrett until he retired around 1975. I am not sure about the term "driver," but the rest I remember hearing as railroad terms. The conductor took tickets on passenger trains, the fireman (at least in the old steam engines) was responsible for keeping the fire going, I believe the fireman position is still used, but I am not sure exactly what they do! I remember hearing about the watchman, but don't remember what they do. The driver perhaps is the engineer? I believe I saw a mailing list at Rootsweb that is all about Trains! You may want to try that for a while! Good Luck!
