My name is Edward Felstead and I have joined your list from here in England (UK). I would like to correspond with any FELSTEAD's or ancestors of FELSTEAD's. My basic problem is that I have an ancestor who was BORN in AMERICA circa 1839 but RETURNED to the UK where the family line continued. I believe my ancestors parents may have lived in INDIANA and also in your county. Below are brief details of the family I THINK may be involved. WILLIAM (JOHN) FELSTEAD m SARAH GREEN 19/NOV/1811 HERTFORSHIRE,ENGLAND They had TWO sons - EDWARD FELSTEAD b 1815 HERTFORDSHIRE,ENGLAND WILLIAM FELSTEAD b 1819 HERTFORDSHIRE,ENGLAND I believe WILLIAM (JOHN) FELSTEAD and his son WILLIAM FELSTEAD emmigrated to AMERICA but EDWARD did not. I am not sure if SARAH FELSTEAD emmigrated or stayed behind in ENGLAND with EDWARD. There is a record suggesting a JOHN FELSTEAD and a WILLIAM FELSTEAD being NATURALIZED in 1848 in INDIANA - possibly VANDERBURGH COUNTY or ALLEN COUNTY. I believe the son WILLIAM b 1819 in ENGLAND (whose occupation may have been a WEAVER) may have MARRIED or at least had a son in AMERICA - born in 1839. The son's name (yes you've guessed it) was WILLIAM!!! Thus in summary I need to track down a WIILIAM FELSTEAD - born AMERICA 1839. One IMPORTANT POINT - On his MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE,when back in ENGLAND WILLIAM states the following "Born AMERICA (BRITISH SUBJECT). This marriage took place in 1860 in CHESTER,CHESHIRE,ENGLAND. Thus WILLIAM b 1839 in AMERICA never actually became an AMERICAN!! Finally I think there may be a connection with the FELSTEAD's of DETROIT,MICHIGAN but this is a bit tenuous at the moment.
