Cathy, There is a MERGE function under teh FILE heading. however, make sure that you back up your orignal file (not just the normal FTM back-up, but make a separate file name; do not use the back-up file in this operation). The problme will be that FTM can merge those names and dates that seem to match perfectly, but the others it goes thorugh and lets you decide. unfortunately, if you go through and merge a husband, it will give the wife two husbands (the same name) and you will ahve to go through and merge these too. So, be prepared for a long arduous process. Alternatively, you can take the GEDCOM you have and make it into a FTM file by itslef and then make smaller trees (like asn outlien descendant tree and copy this tree to a 3rd file and then merge this smaller file with your original file. being smaller, it is muc easier to handle (I think).
