Pat, What sort of info is available at the cemetery? We did find where our gg-grandparents were but have little other info. They are in Lindenwood but have no headstones. Thanks for the info. The suggestions all sound great- I hope the project excites many volunteers. I would be very interested in the records of the older-non English churches- births, baptisms, etc. As I am Lutheran they are in German and difficult to read. This would be a tremendously difficult project, but one with lasting importance from both a historical and genealogical perspective. I too would love to place obits on an Allen County website. Best of Luck with your project! Gary
But, first we have to have volunteers to transcribe all of these things like, marriages, deaths, cemeteries etc. Marilyn
I would like to see all county web sites have a list of the cemetaries and a listing of who is buriied in each cemetary and where they are located., A township map and a map of with all communities. Diana, Why don't you visit our Allen County "look-up" page. We have volunteers listed to do look-ups for the majority of our cemeteries. Please remember the request to only put one name per e-mail. Lynn, We already have a list of cemeteries in Allen Co. on the Allen Co. GenWeb page. As for listing everyone buried in the cemeteries, the Allen County Genealogical Society has published a set of books listing burials in almost all the cemeteries. One of the main fund raising projects for most genealogical societies is the publishing of cemetery books, therefore we will never list burials on the web. We do have people willing to do look-ups in our books. See - Allen Co. Look-ups. As for a map of Allen Co. townships. We should have 1898 township maps on the site very soon. Would anyone know if the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne has a website or has anyone requested information from them? If so, were they very helpful? Thank you, Diana - searching McDonald - March - Hilker

I would love to see a website where actual allen county documents could be uploaded..maybe a spot to post obituaries,so our loved one are always a little closer.. dixie
Karen, There is a, either J. E. Meyer or an I. E. Meyer, on an 80 acre plot at the southwest corner of Perry township. This would put him closer to Ft. Wayne than Huntertown, where I could find neither Myers nor Meyers listed there. Theresa
Hi Brandi, I for one would love to see the old Catholic Church records put online in English! I spent two whole days on a trip to Allen Co. trying to decipher the old records which of course are in Latin. After awhile you can sort of make out what the record is for but when they are in the old handwriting as well, it sure is time consuming. I would have liked to explore the library for other records since my ancestors were from Allen and Noble Co, but this took all my time. I am curious why no one seems to have transcribed them unless every one has as much trouble with them as I did! Thanks for your efforts! Why the need for a new site? Why not just contribute to the existing site? Curious...

Like, there was a Cy Johnson according to Chalmer Logan who went up "the hill" with Roosevelt, got injured and received a pension the rest of his life. I've asked other relatives in Allen Co. + SEARCHED the web + found nothing..........so far. A sample of another myth is when my gr. grandfather sat up in his coffin in his home. I'm sure it's true, but have no proof. This was told to me by my dad, (still living) and he wasn't there. He was six and the year was 1936. To say that gr. grandfather Romanowski scared the underwear soiled is being polite according to my dad. Gr. grandfather was 6' 6" and needed 8 pallbearers. I guess things like this. "Stories" Lynn, looking for Logan's, Johnson's, + Klenke's. ps we named our only boy Max Logan Mills for his gr. granddad.
That sounds great, as long it is label myths and legends. I am working on making and gathering information to put on an Allen County website and I was wondering what kind of information you would like to see included. I am open for ideas if anyone has some. Is there anything you would like to see included in the website such as churches, pictures, and any information that is otherwise. If anyone has any ideas on what you would like to see put on an Allen County website please let me know. Thanks for your time and good luck on your research! Best Regards, Brandi
I don't have any of these Myers. Does anyone have any information on them? Karen > Lydia Myers (1802-1873) md. Abraham Hollopeter (1800-1869) > Jacob Thaddeus Myers md. Dave, My ancestors' house is the old farm house just south of Dutch Ridge church. It looks wonderful, as do many old homes in Perry Township. I was very impressed. Karen > So What did you decided on the Farm House? Which one is your Myers > ancestors > house? >
Sherri, If you come up with any Myers names, I'd sure be interested. I'm searching for a connection to my Myers ancestors who lived in the Dutch Ridge area (Huntertown) of Perry Township. Brandi, A history of when the county was started. Who was the first people there. Why did they make the county seat where it is out. I always wonder why my ancestors move to a certain county, what brings them there. If it is farming, hunting, fishing etc., Charlotte Sweet2Olivia@aol.com wrote: > I am working on making and gathering information to put on an Allen > County website and I was wondering what kind of information you would like to > see included.
