Thanks so much Lynn. I really appreciate this. I don't think this Jesse will be in the SSDI, as I'm pretty sure he died before 1900. Must of been another county or state. Nancy, Jesse Felker does not appear on the Allen Co, IN index for deaths from 1845-1920. I would try the Social Security deaath index. The web site is http://ancestry.com/search/rectype/vital/ssdi/main.htm and it is free. There are two Felkers on it. I would like to know if there is an index for deaths in Allen Co, IN that occurred after 1880. I am looking for Jessee B. FELKER who last appears on the 1880 IN census in Allen Co -Wayne township. I do not know a date of death. He left a wife, Mary, and was the father of several children. If someone could direct me where to look I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Nancy, Ont, Canada
I am trying to locate any known children of Robert Leonard Baysinger who may reside in or around Ft. Wayne. Rumored to also be living in the Angola area also. Thanks Dean Hatch

Probably no help, BUT there is a MAYHEW ROAD on the north side of Fort Wayne, just outside city limits now. Many early roads were named for the families who lived there! Bill, I never go to ACPL without first accessing the catalog. I enter my search terms and get the info for my call slips to save time when I am there. That, of course, is not an option for you. However, you can search to your hearts content and find books that you might not have known existed. You then can attempt to obtain them through your local library or any one of many sources. It obviously is more difficult being so far away but ACPL is a great library. We go several times a year. Also you can request lookups in particular books. Some of the listers are kind enough to provide this service. Could someone give Bill the site for lookups? Give it a try. I will be very surprised if you do not find something useful. Bill, The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana has a list of researchers for hire on their web page. You can get to their page from the Allen Co. GenWeb page. Look under Allen County Links. Linda Churchward
Bill, Allen Co. Public Library as has been stated has the second largest collection of genealogical material in the world. As well as on line help, they have a research service that will look up census, vital stats, biographies, etc. etc. for a nominal fee. I believe you can download or request the proper forms from the on line web page. Marilyn Phelps
Bill: Be aware that Allen County Library holds the second largest depository of Genealogy data in the USA. There are a number of volunteers to assist. The data covers most of the world. The resurces are mind bogling. I have both visited the library & have been aided by voluteers on line as well. Hi Bill, You may visit the library's web site at http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/ . There you will find an online catalog which you may search to see books that are available at the libary. Just enter the location, such as California, and then click to search. Unfortunately, the vast microfilmed resources collection is not yet included in the online catalog. The microfilm collection includes all available U.S. census, city directories, vital records for many locations, histories, maps, etc. See the page at http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/genealogy/whoweare.html The historical genealogy collection, however, is a closed collection, which means the materials may not be checked out. A question for INALLEN subscribers who have used the services and any content of the Allen County Public Library FROM LONG DISTANCE (i.e., without visiting the Library 'in person'): For the membership of the Mission Oaks Genealogy Club (a multi-national-focus organization) in Sacramento, CA (2000 miles from Fort Wayne) what, if anything of genealogical use or interest is available from the ACPL?; and HOW? Thank you for your attention. Bill Rietdorf

Do any of you subscribers have any suggestions/recommendations for excellent speakers on German genealogy and/or social history?? If so, would you kindly provide contact info (name, address[location and email], telephone #,etc.), and, if available, the subject and date (briefly/generally) of each presentation you've heard ?? Speakers from any of the States and Canada are of interest. Thank you very much for your attention and help. Bill Rietdorf
Brandi, I would really love to see obituaries and census records online, available for searching. I live 4 hours away from Fort Wayne and can't make it there for research very often (I've only been there once). I wish every library had the resources that Allen County Library has -- it's WONDERFUL!
