Dyer is my married name and my husband came from Colorado. Those names don't sound familiar, but I have not researched his family yet. > -----Original Message----- > From: Morton Family [mailto:EarthSalt@centurytel.net] > Sent: Thursday, January 25, 2001 1:00 PM > To: INALLEN-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [INALLEN-L] dyer > > > Lisa Dyer, > > are you by any chance related to Leonard Eugene Dyer & wife Eleanor? > > My maiden name was Dyer so it would be interesting to know... > > thanks, > dlm > >
I have had the same experience. Lisa Dyer Surname interests (paternal): GREEN, BOWERS, INKS, LOY, MITCHELL, Surname interests (maternal): HUGE, JONES, FASTER, Place interests: Indiana Counties (Allen, Noble, Whitley), Ohio Counties (VanWert), Germany (Baden-Wurttemburg) > -----Original Message----- > From: Neon [mailto:neon@i1.net] > Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 5:05 PM > To: INALLEN-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [INALLEN-L] Obit Look Ups 1841 - 1900 Online! > > > Jim, > I capitalized. Several messages have indicated problems with the obits on-line. I tried it and used the name Evers with no spaces front or back and got some new info that has been helpful. If you are having trouble, try this name (capital 'E" and lower case "vers') and you should get 9 listings. Good luck. Lisa Dyer, are you by any chance related to Leonard Eugene Dyer & wife Eleanor? My maiden name was Dyer so it would be interesting to know... thanks, dlm
Nancy, It appears that the database is case sensitive. Try it again only don't forget to capitalize the first letters. Good Luck. Jim B.
Jim, I capitalized. I tried it with surname first, and first name. I've tried first name, space surname and I even tried a few people I'm not looking for but who died in the correct time frame, and I still get nothing. Do I need to give more information? I also tried just a last name to see if that would bring up all the obit for that last name and still nothing. I tried two women that I knew had died in the right time frame with different spelling of the last name, but got nothing. I tried a child whom I knew her exact death date, and did not get anything. Perhaps I can chalk it up to the facty that all the people I'm looking for in FT. Wayne did not have their obit in the paper. Oh, well. For everyone who is looking for the address of the places they want to write to for such things as birth records, they should try this website: www.vitalrec.com/index.html or www.vitalchek.com. The first is for info. to adresses and the second will check records for a fee. I found them both at rootsweb.com under Guide to Tracing Family Trees on the main page. Have fun! Hi, I have tried the Allen Co. Library site in reference to the obit lookups, and have never gotten the database to do anything. Perhaps I have been doing it wrong. If you say that it works, I'll believe you, and try again. I just assumed that it wasn't runing properly and that someday it would get fixed. Thanks for the info. Loye Lewis of Ft. Wayne, IN is my great uncle. I was hot on his trail. Found last known address. But the family has moved with no forwarding address. How can I ind his current residence? I have written to the current residents. no reply as of yet. Thanks Pam
try sending a letter with "address correction requested" written on the envelope. If the post office has a forwarding address listed for them they can return the letter with an address correction label on it. I have located at least one person this way. dlm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pam Shults" <pamsh@webtv.net> To: <INALLEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 11:01 AM Subject: [INALLEN-L] help > Loye Lewis of Ft. Karl, Thanks for suggesting the Allen County Obits Lookup. The first name I entered was a success. In the notes column the message is: f//s of A C Katt. I believe the person searched is the son of A C Katt which would answer the letter s, but what does the f mean? In looking at other names several have the f in a similar position but most have the letter d. Any help? Susie
