MILLER Joan J. Miller, 76, Butler, died at 2 p.m. Saturday in Laurels of DeKalb, Butler, after a long illness. She was born on March 20, 1921 in Decatur to Frederick I. and Frances B. Coffee Colchin and married Francis W. Miller on January 17, 1948; he died on December 15, 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. Surviving are three sons: Dennis Miller, Butler; Christopher J. Miller, Hamilton and Kevin G. Miller, Escondido, California; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Monica R.) Ordway, Butler; two brothers, Maurice "Gabby" Colchin, Decatur and Max Colchin, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mary J. Miller, Decatur and Mrs. Claude (Lois) Sharp, Baldwin, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A brother, Mark Colchin and two sisters, Monica Colchin and Martha Kitson, are deceased. A prayer service will be held at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Decatur. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur. Visiting hours and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. Preferred memorials are to St. Mary's Parish Improvement Fund of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
