He died the day after his 76th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Mennonite Church in Berne, with Rev. Ken Bauman and Curt Claassen officiating. Burial will be in MRE Cemetery. Friends may call at the Yager Funeral Home in Berne after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Surviving are his second wife, the former Catherine Schindler; and 37 other relatives. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Nussbaum was a retired farmer and a member of the First Mennonite Church. He first married the former Grace Reinhard, who died in 1942. He was born March 25, 1903 in Adams County to John and Ellen Baumgartner-Nussbaum. Also surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Loris (Betty) Rich of Route 1, Monroe; Mrs. Milt (Pauline) Habegger of Fort Wayne and Mary Jo Nussbaum of Berne; three sons, Robert of Rt. 1, Monroe; David of Rt. 1, Berne and Ted of Rt. 1, Woodburn; three sisters, Mrs. Everett (Elda) Reynolds of of Elkhart, Mrs. Frank (Lydia) Burke of Berne and Mrs. Vernal (Edna) Ellenberger of Berne; eight brothers, Frank, Wilbur, Ben, Hiram, and Victor, all of Berne, Fred and Edwin of Rt. 1, Berne, and John, a minister in Dundee, Florida; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preferred memorials are to church missions, WBCL radio in Fort Wayne or the Back to the Bible radio broadcasts. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
