RAY Raymond C. Ray, 89, of Whitley County, a native of Adams County, died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday in Whitley County Memorial Hospital at Columbia City. He was born in Monroe on March 16, 1896 to Elmer J. and Lessie M. Striker-Ray, and married the former Dora A. Marshall; she died in 1976. The couple moved to Whitley County in 1924. Mr. Ray, a farmer and a general contractor, is survived by three sons: Ernest Ray of Whitley County, Francis Ray of Haines City, Florida and Raymond C. Ray Jr. of Colorado; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Maxine) Welsheimer of Columbia City; three sisters, Ortha Townsend of Berne, Francile Bauer of South Bend, and Florine Durbin of New Haven; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Robert and Don Ray, a brother and a sister are deceased. Funeral services were held this afternoon in Columbia City with burial in Jefferson Chapel Cemetery.
