Hopefully EVERHART researchers are aware of the picture of Bazel Everhart (1846-1926) that appeared in the FW Journal Gazette on Sunday, 17 April 1960, first page of Magazine Section E. The article is on file in the Decatur library. He was Monroe’s first honorary town marshal and owned all of the land that became the town site. The picture shows him with right hand on a long staff and with a pistol tucked in the breast pocket of his jacket.
