She was in the hospital just one day. She was born in Monroe Township on January 2, 1916 to George and Ida Biberstine Hirschy and never married. She taught elementary school in Adams County for 37 years; 26 years at Berne Elementary and the remainder at schools Two, Three, Four, and Nine. She received her teacher's degree from Huntington College, Huntington, and a master's degree from Ball State University, Muncie. A lifetime Adams County resident and a member of the Monroe United Brethren in Christ Church, she published one book of poetry, Poems for Today, and wrote three other works, as yet unpublished. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Sylvia) Bertsch, route 4, and four brothers, Noah E., Roy E., and Sylvan Hirschy, all of route 1, Monroe, and Chester D. Hirschy of Mathew, North Carolina. One brother and one sister are deceased. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church, Rev. Mike Bown officiating. Burial will be in Ray Cemetery, Monroe. Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m. today, 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 a.m.-noon Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, and 1-2 p.m. Thursday in the church.
