BAKER IS TAKEN BY DEATH Thurman L. Baker, 52, prominent Geneva resident and long-time employe of the Central Soya Co. plant in Decatur, died Tuesday morning at the Jay County hospital at Portland, where he had been a patient for three weeks with a heart condition. Mr. Baker had long been active in Democratic party circles, and he and his wife operated the auto license bureau at Geneva. Born in Jefferson Township, July 8, 1913, he was a son of Daniel and Goldie May Morningstar-Baker, and was a lifelong resident of that community. Mr. Baker was a member of the Bethel Brethren church and the Moose lodge at Portland. Surviving are his wife Selma; his mother, Mrs. Goldie Roe of Geneva; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Clara) Hamblen of Decatur, Mrs. David (Helen) Stucky of Geneva, Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Hanni of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Dewey (Rebecca) Balsey of Cincinnati, O; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Baker of Berne and Cliff Baker of Marion; and one sister, Mrs. Viola Stauffer of Geneva. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hardy & Hardy funeral home at Geneva, with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
