PALMER LIECHTY DIES UNEXPECTEDLY Dr. Palmer E. Liechty, 49, of 3428 Lona Drive, Fort Wayne, owner of Liechty Optometrists, was dead on arrival at midnight Saturday at the Lutheran Hospital. Dr. Liechty, veteran of both World War II and the Korean conflict, had resided in Fort Wayne 19 years. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church at Berne, and attended the Gospel Temple in Fort Wayne. He was a past president of the Village elementary school PTA, and president of the East Allen county school board. A graduate of Northern Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Liechty was a member of the Travelers Protective Association, Amercian Legion post 330, New Haven, the Tuiana Club and Indiana Optometric Association. Survivng are his wife, Elva; three sons, Jason, sophomore at Indiana University, Jeffrey and Jerry at home; a daughter, Janice, at home; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Yoder of Berne; and two brothers, Dr. Ralph Liechty of Wooster, O., and Dr. Clinton Liechty of Loudonelle, O. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the D.O. McComb Funeral Home, Rev. Paul Edwardson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at MRE Cemetery at Berne.
