Brown, 73, of 316 South Wayne street, Bluffton, father of two Decatur residents , died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at the Clinic hospital in Bluffton, following a three-year illness of cancer. He was born in Wells County Dec. 8, 1896, a son of Charles and Clara Love-Brown and was married to Mildred Beal in 1919. Mr. Brown, a retired carpenter, was a member of the First Baptist church at Bluffton. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Marvin of Valparaiso, Bob of Marion, Larry of Franklin and Carl of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six daughters, Mrs. Maxine Baumann and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Schnitz, both of Decatur, Mrs. Donald (Bertha Jean) Malson of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Scott (Doris) Alexander of Franklin, Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Higgins of Richards, Tex., and Mrs. Philip (Judith) Hoopengarner of Ossian; one sister, Mrs. Gale Roe of Fort Wayne; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral rites will be conducted at 1:30 Wednesday at the First Baptist church in Bluffton, with Rev. Joe Elliot officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County. Friends may call at the Thoma funeral home in Bluffton after 7 p.m. today and from noon Wednesday at the church until time of services.
