ROE Violet L. Roe, 78, rural Monroe, died at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after a short illness. She was born on Sept. 17, 1917 in Adams County to Chauncy and Mary M. Julian Manley and married Clifford E. Roe on March 15, 1936. He died on April 20, 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Women. She held many offices in her church and was a member of the Happy Homemakers Club for more than 55 years, including being secretary for more than 15 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Linda) McMillen, rural Decatur, and Mrs. Richard (Pauline) Minnich, Geneva; two sons, Clifford Leon Roe and Lynn Roe, both of rural Monroe; seven sisters, Edna Manley and Mrs. Wilbur (Esther) Cook, both of Decatur; Mildred Wolfe, Pleasant Mills; Mable Miller, Willshire, Ohio; Mrs. Jim (Velma) Penrod, Bluffton; Mrs. Paul (Lois) Kauffman, Leipsic, Ohio, and Mrs. Leonard (Marcile) King, rural Decatur; four brothers, Richard Manley, Decatur; and Glen, Kenneth and Lester Manley, all of rural Decatur; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A son, Larry E. Roe, and one sister, Jean Cook, are deceased. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Backesto/Springhill Cemetery, rural Monroe. Visiting hours are noon - 9 p.m. Thursday.
