LOPEZ JR. DOMINGO "D.J." LOPEZ JR., 57, of Decatur, was taken to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly Friday, May 6, 2005, at 7:25 p.m. Born Sept. 4, 1947, in Decatur, he was the son of the late Domingo Lopez Sr., who passed away on March 11, 1974 and the late Rosa (Aguilar) Lopez, who passed away on Nov. 15, 1981. He married Dolores A. Mendez on Oct. l, 1966, in Decatur, she survives. He was a member of Faith Alive Ministries, Decatur. He was also in the President's Cabinet of Jerry Savelle Ministries, in Crowley, Texas, where he was also actively involved. He was a self-employed carpenter, building contractor, and businessman in Decatur for many years. He was the semi-retired former owner and founder of DJ's Pools, Decatur, and was founder and owner of Cottonwood Apartments, Decatur. Surviving are his wife, Dolores A. Lopez of Decatur; son, Domingo "Sunny" (Kara) Lopez III of Decatur; daughters, Yvonne Lopez of Decatur and Mrs. Daniel (Michelle) Schwab of Decatur; sisters, Dolores Lopez of Chicago, Ill. and Lucy Espinosa of Plainfield; brother, Francisco (Pauline) Lopez Sr. of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister, Mrs. Jose "Lupe" (Carmen) De La Rosa of Decatur; brother, Manuel (Kathy) Lopez of Decatur; and five grandchildren, Joshua Domingo Lopez, Jordon Ezekial Lopez, Cody R. Demille, Kayla Lanae Richardson and Gabriel Paul Lopez. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Suzie Garza and Nieves Mendoza. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Beginnings Faith Center at the corner of Dayton and Tenth Streets, in Decatur, with calling one hour prior to service. Friends will be received also from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Due to street construction, please use downtown access from First, Second, or Third Streets to have access to the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Decatur Cemetery.
