Newby Frances L. Newby, 88 of Berne, In. formerly of Decatur, passed away today at Swiss Village in Berne. She was the daughter of Delbert H. & Edna B. Tumbleson. She married Charles T. Newby on Dec. 6, 1943 and he passed away April, 2005. Frances worked as an RN for Phelps Dodge in Ft. Wayne and also did Private duty nursing in Ft. Wayne. She was a member of the Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church and was a former Charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Ft. Wayne. She was involved in the Adams County Nursing Assoc., Sunday school teacher, Supt. of Sunday School, United Methodist Women of which she held several offices. Charles and Frances has 1 daughter Sarah E. Longsworth of Decatur, 5 grandchildren Mrs. Chad (Rachel) Weaver of Ft. Wayne, Mrs. Jim (Amanda) Bluhm of Monroe, Jesse (Jennie) Longsworth of Berne and John and Andrew Longsworth both of Decatur and 7 great grandchildren. Preceded her in death was her parents, husband and a son John in 1964. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005 at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services also at the funeral home. The funeral will be on Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Rev. Michele Isch will be officiating and memorials are to Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church.
