BURGER Bryce W. Burger, 78, Decatur, died Wednesday at home. He was born on September 20, 1918 in Union Township to Alva K. and Bertha Welty Burger and married Delores L. Werst on September 6, 1946. She died on July 15, 1979. He retired in 1984 as a welder for Fruehauf Co. in Fort Wayne, after a 33-year career. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a member of Adams Post 43 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6236, both in Decatur. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Nancy) Kaehr, rural Decatur; five sons, Kerry L. Burger, Elmore City, Oklahoma, Steven B. and Timothy B. Burger, both of rural Decatur; Rickey W. Burger, Coloma, Michigan and Randall B. Burger, Angola; a brother, Robert Burger, rural Decatur; six sisters, Mrs. Ermil (Mary) Shifferly, Monroe, Mrs. Gorman (Rose) Fox and Mrs. Al (Annie) Fleming, both of rural Decatur, Mrs. Harold (Lucrecia) Minnich, rural Monroe, Ruth Suman, Decatur, and Marguerite Carpenter, rural Bluffton; and eight grandchildren. Deceased are three sisters (Francile Harvey, Pearl Worthman and Norma Burger) and five brothers (John, Wayne, Frank, Harold and Theodore Burger). Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Decatur Cemetery, including military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43. Visiting hours are 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday. Preferred memorials are to the Adams County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
