Born in Adams county on July 10, 1889, he was the son of Lewis and Effie Hammond-Johnson, and was married on Oct. 12, 1910, to Bessie Irene Spuller, who died November 1, 1967. Surviving are eight children, Ralph of Fort Wayne; Dale of Berne; Robert of Spokane, Washington; Raymond of Fairfax, Virginia; Harold of Winchester, Virginia; Dick W. of Cloverdale, Calif.; Mrs. A. M. (Edith) Stahly of Decatur; and Mrs. Dean (Mary Ellen) Spiker of Milford; one sister, Mrs. Hulda Vance of Fort Wayne; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Winteregg-Linn and Haggard funeral home, with Rev. Richard Kirk officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday. The six sons will serve as pallbearers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
