Bohnke, 72, of Decatur, died at 11:54 p.m. Thursday in Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born March 11, 1933, in Adams County, the son of Frank E. and Frances I. Snell Bohnke. On July 15, 1951, he married the former Joan M. VonGunten, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Eric W. Bohnke of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Julie A. Garner and Mrs. Phillip (Holly L.) Degitz, both of Decatur; a brother, Donald D. Bohnke of Fort Wayne; and six grandchildren. Dr. Bohnke retired from Family Dentistry in Decatur in August of 2002. In April of that year he received the Honorary Dentist for 2004 award from the Isaac Knapp Dental Society, and in June of 2004 he received the Honorary Dentist of 2004 award from the Indiana Dental Society. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, where he was a deacon. He was also a member of Decatur Masonic Lodge No. 571, F&AM, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley, Mispah Shrine, Adams County Shrine Club and Adams County Calliopers, Isaac Knapp Dental Society, Indiana Dental Society and National Dental Society. A memorial service will be held at Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall of the church. Memorials are to the Zion United Church of Christ or the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
