After suffering for the past four months from progressive paralysis James Hendricks, Sr., residing in Monroe passed away Sunday morning at 12:10 at his home. Mr. Hendricks first noticed the paralysis 4 months ago and immediately began treating for it bat all efforts were in vain and the illness kept progressing until his death resulted. Mr. Hendricks was one of the oldest pioneers of Monroe township, having moved there with his parents when but a lad of nine years. he was born in Tuscarawas county in Ohio, March 2, 1845, being at the time of his death, 69 years, one month and three days of age. He was united in marriage to Miss Phoebe Manbick and to this union were born six children, one of them having preceded the father and mother in death. The children living are: Mrs. Bertha Lardon of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Ben Smith of near Monroe, Ira of Ashland, Ohio, and Morris and Homer of Hammond. In 1890 Mrs. Hendricks was called in death and in 1892 Mr. Hendricks was again u! nited in marriage to Mrs. Liddy B. Hendricks, who is left to mourn her husband. Mr. Hendricks is also survived by a sister, Mary Jane Ray of this city and a brother, John Hendricks, Sr., of Monroe. One brother William Hendricks has preceded him in death. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church in Monroe, Rev. Jones being the officiating minister. Interment will take place in the Smith Cemetery.
