Garwood, 89, former resident of Willshire, Ohio, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday in Decatur Community Care Center. He was born in Blue Creek Township, Adams County, on October 5, 1897 to Joseph and Lois Yager-Garwood. His first wife, the former Oressa Mottinger, died in 1927; he married the former Ethel Douglas on February 20, 1935; she died April 23, 1986. He was a farmer and a member of Union Methodist Church on route 7, Decatur. Surviving are a son, Donald Garwood of Marion; a brother, Harvey Garwood of Van Wert, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. A son, Harold; four brothers - Delmer, Delbert, Elmer, and Roy - and five sisters - Hieda, Rosa, Rosetta, Mary, and Bertha - are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Union Methodist Church, Rev. David Chivington officiating. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery. Visiting hours at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio, are 7-9 p.m. today; there is also visitation at the church from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
