"Katie" Nyffeler, 78, of Decatur, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at home. She was born on March 5, 1925, in Monroe to Joshua and Eva Mae Brandyberry Burkhead. She married Kenneth W. Nyffeler on November 28, 1946; he died on May 12, 2000. She was a homemaker who also was a retired cafeteria employee of North Adams Schools. She was a member of the auxiliary unit of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur and the Women of the Moose Chapter 625. Surviving are five daughters, Linda G. Nyffeler of Decatur and Mrs. Michael (Karen A.) Lemmon, Nyla R. and Nadine S. Nyffeler, and Sandra K. Crutchfield, all of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A daughter, three sisters, a brother, and a half-brother are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, including a Moose memorial service at 6 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the color guard at American Legion Post 43 and to East Liberty United Methodist Church on State Rd. 101, rural Monroeville.
