Butcher, 50, of rural Decatur, died on Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident on US 224, just west of Decatur. He was born on March 9, 1953, in Adams County, to Robert C. and Magdalene E. Borne Butcher. His father died on Oct 7, 1988; his mother lives in Decatur. He married Denise Ray on April 8, 1972. He married Laurie A. Johnson on July 26, 2003; she survives. He worked in maintenance for the Poore Brothers firm in Bluffton and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur. He was also a member of the Decatur Wrestling Club and an avid fan of the wrestling program at Bellmont High School. Other survivors are two sons, Phillip S. and Adam P. Butcher, both of Decatur; two daughters, Mrs. Matt (Jerralyn J.) Villagomez and Mrs. Scott (Andrea D.) Wolfe, both of Decatur; five brothers, Robert E., David R., Steven L., and Daniel J. Butcher, all of Decatur, and Rev. Neil D. Butcher of Albany; and four grandchildren. A granddaughter is deceased. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Mark's United Methodist Church, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. - noon Sunday in Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Preferred memorials are to the family.
