She was born in Decatur on April 30, 1911 to William and Pearl Goss (should be Gause) Cook. She married Harold A. Hirshey on January 19, 1932; he died on November 3, 1973. She was a homemaker who lived in Geneva before moving to Chalet Village in 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Art (Anna) Vorhees of Geneva and Mrs. James (Mary) Lough of Decatur; a son, Charles Hirshey of Geneva; four brothers, Virgil, Herbert and Richard Cook, all of Decatur and Willie Cook of Rome City; two sisters, Rosie Lough and Isabel King, both of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren. Five brothers and three sisters are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, Geneva, with burial in Riverside Cemetery of rural Geneva. Visiting hours are 2-8 p.m. Sunday. Preferred memorials are to High Street United Methodist Church, 435 High St., Geneva, 46740, the Geneva Fire Department or Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana, 265 W. Water St., Berne, 46711.
