Heare, 89, Decatur, died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday at Woodcrest. He was born on December 13, 1906 in Adams County to Charles A. and Nellie Engle Heare and married Esther Bollenbacher on February 16, 1929. She died on December 15, 1995. He retired in 1970 after 47 years with United Telephone Co. and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur. Surviving are two sons, David E. Heare, Monroe, and John A. Heare, Stockton, California; two daughters, Darlene Heare, Fort Wayne, and Bonita Heare, Mesa, Arizona; three brothers, Ivan Heare, Decatur, Max Heare, Waukesha, Wisconsin; and Rex Heare, Tampa, Florida; a stepsister, Mrs. Robert (Marcella) Schnitz, Leesburg, Florida; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Loren and Palmer Heare; two brothers, Marion and George Heare; a stepbrothers, James W. Tutewiler; two sister, Evelyn Heare and Rosell Von Gunten; and three grandchildren are deceased. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday. Preferred memorials are to the church.
