Death resulted from a stroke of paralysis which Mrs. Crist suffered Tuesday noon. The deceased never regained consciousness after the stroke. Mrs. Martha Crist was born December 30, 1851 in Washington township, the daughter of Thomas and Eliza Ball-Johnson, both deceased. On March 6, 1884 she was united in marriage to George Crist who died ten years ago. To this union were born two children, Miss Elizabeth Crist, at home, and Frank Crist of this city. A sister, Mrs. Rebecca Chaney of Plymouth, Indiana, and two brothers, Jacob of this city, and Bart Johnson of Kansas City, Kansas also survive. Seven brothers and sisters preceded Mrs. Crist in death. Mrs. Crist was a member of the Christian Union Church at Honduras for the last twenty-five years. She was the daughter of Thomas Johnson, one of the founders of the city of Decatur, and has been a resident of this city for about ten years. Prior to that time she lived in Kirkland township. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, 136 South Eleventh street, with Rev. R. E. Vance, pastor of the United Brethren Church officiating.
