Strickler, 84, 107 Hogan St., Willshire, Ohio died at 7:45 a.m. (Ohio time) today at the Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford, Ohio, where he had been a patient since January 25. He was a retired Nickel Plate Railroad Co. employee with 25 years of service, and was also employed by the town of Willshire from January of 1945 to August of 1967. He attended the Willshire United Brethren in Christ Church and was a member of the Willshire Lions Club, a 60-year member of the Homer Pierson Post 207, American Legion in Willshire, the VFW and the DAV of Decatur. He was also a veteran of World War 1, serving in France. Born in Adams County on April 18, 1898, he was the son of Oatus and Lillie Brunstetter Strickler, and was first married to Nellie Stetler on March 15, 1919; she died October 12, 1956. He later married May Slusser Miller on July 7, 1958; she died July 16, 1967. His third marriage was to Etta Rickard Shaw on July 5, 1969, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Lester Strickler, Willshire; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Hoverman, Willshire; Mrs. John (Lois) Funk, route 7, Decatur; Mrs. Carol (Rosella) Sovine, New Haven; Mrs. Adeline Lough, Willshire; Mrs. Deane (Hazel) McMillen Willshire; three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Leola) High, Ohio City, Ohio; Mrs. Alvin (Bertha) Andrews, Marion, Ohio; Mrs. Firman (Geraldine) Putman, Ohio City; a brother, Kenneth Strickler, Decatur; a stepdaughters, Mrs. Helen Spagnolia, Dayton, Ohio; two stepsons, Robert Shaw, Van Wert; Larry Shaw, Layton, Utah; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Harold and Floyd, Jr., one stepson, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
