Gay, 82, Stanton, Michigan, a former Decatur resident, died at 7:42 a.m. Sunday in a Greenville, Michigan hospital. She had lived in Stanton since 1938. She was born on August 11, 1908 in Decatur to Maynard A. and Alma E. Dailey Frisinger and married William B. Gay on May 13, 1938; he died in 1970. She and her husband co-owned Gay's Five and Dime stores; she retired in 1975. She was a former member of Decatur's First Presbyterian church. Surviving are a daughter, Martha Cohron, Decatur, Georgia; her companion, Merle Poindexter, Carson City, Michigan; a brother, Robert Frisinger, 315 Limberlost Trail. A sister, Elizabeth Helser, is deceased. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Stebbins and Simpson Funeral Home, Stanton, and at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Zwick-Sefton and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Visiting hours are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
