Oliver, 86, of route 1, Hamlet, a native of Monroe and a former resident of Decatur, died at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Knox Hospital. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamlet and a retired insurance agent. Born in Monroe on Sept. 21, 1890, he was the son of Thomas B. and Aldenah Hocker-Oliver, and was married on Jan. 28, 1916 to Mary E. Mills. Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. William (Ramona) Yates, Laporte; three sisters, Mrs. Electa Kessler, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Cy (Francille G.) Keller, Rockford, Ohio; Mrs. James (Lucille) Baker, Fort Wayne; four brothers, Walter C. Oliver, route 1, Monroe; Gregg Oliver, Wewahitchka, Fla.; Webster C. Oliver, Indianapolis, Ind.; John F. Oliver, Auburn, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Winteregg-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home, with Rev. C. Albert Nunery officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.
