This summer I went to Germany and located the records of the GERKE family that settled in Adams County in the 1830's. The records are in the church (Lutheran) of Arenshorst, close to Bohmte--which WAS Hannover and is now over the border in Osnabruck. The LDS have films of these records! Johann Friedrich Gerke and Anna Maria Juliana [Julia] Kolckmeyer were married in the Arenshorst chapel in 1798. Son Kphan Diederich [Diederich] was baptised in Arenshorst on 16 February,1808. Son Johann Christoph (Christopher) was confirmed at Arenshorst on 17 April 1825. Johann Heinrich Ludwig [Louis] was confirmed in 1829 in Arenshorst.
