Hello INADAMS Rooters: My name is Carol Hepburn and I am researching my WALTERS, WISEHAUPT and YEAGER family lines from Preble Township. My father's family arrived in Indiana from Pennsylvania, Maryland and Kentukcy in the early 1850's. They settled in Preble Township in Adams County before retiring to Wells County, where they remain today. I am particularly interested in the family of John C. Walters who married Susannah Yeager (she was a widow) shortly before 1860. John was from Pennsylvania and married (1) Elizabeth Womers about 1845. John and Elizabeth had two sons: Daniel and Cyrus. John moved the family to Kentucky around 1847 and Cyrus was born there. Elizabeth died in Kentucky and in 1850 John is listed in Preble Township with his two children and the family and children of Susannah Yeager. Cyrus Walters was my great-great-grandfather. He married Miss Mary Ann Wisehaupt (daughter of Daniel F. Wisehaupt and Mary B. ?) also of Preble Township. They moved to Wells County and are both buried in Emmanuel ME Cemetery, in Rockcreek Township. I have not been able to find the parents of John or of Elizabeth Womers - though I believe they were both born in Venango County, PA. John's son, Daniel remained in Adams County and married Catherine and had two daughters, Etta and Emma. Cyrus and Mary Ann had 10 children. I would love to correspond and share information with anyone connected (even remotely) to these families. Thanks! Carol E.
