She was born on March 4, 1914 in Groveton, Texas to Noah and Ollie Moore Thomas. She married Leonard Wagley on June 22, 1929. He died in April 1981. She married Ornell Schindler on Nov. 21, 1987; he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Cross United Church of Berne. She also was a member Teti? Sheri Temple, Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was a former leader of the Hartford Township 4-H Club. Other survivors are 2 sons, Thomas R. Wagley, Muncie and Dr. Robert A. Wagley, Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Melba Hall, Houston, Texas; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Wagley, Monroe; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Leonard Wagley, Jr.; a grandchild; two brothers, Clifford and Clyde Thomas and four sisters, Jewel Ward, Geraldine King, Bonnie Thomas and Mildred Vosdingh. He had not been ill. He was born in Willshire Township, Sept. 2, 1906, a son of Wilson and May Bowen-Nye and was a lifelong resident of the township. He was married to Edith Snyder Nov. 30, 1935. Mr. Nye was a well-known ?er of the Willshire community and served as a PMA Committeeman. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Mrs. Wilson Nye; one daughter, Mrs. Tom Marbaugh of Willshire and one grandchild. One son preceded him in death. EVELYN ARCHER DIES TUESDAY NIGHT Funeral Services Friday Afternoon Mrs. Evelyn Archer, 91, a native of Decatur and resident of Pleasant Mills for most of her life, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gus Smith, Midland, Mich. Mrs. Archer fractured a hip in a fall approximately a year ago, and had been in failing health since that time. Mrs. Archer was a member of the Methodist church at Pleasant Mills. She was born in Decatur, July 12, 1864, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Archbold, and was married to David Archer, June 8, 1882. Her husband died several years ago. In addition to the daughter are two sons: Sherman and Carl Archer, both of Pleasant Mills; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Two daughters and one son preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Black Funeral Home, the Rev. Harley Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Nepritis was the immediate cause of death, although Mr. Archer had been suffering from complications of diseases for some time. Both of his legs had been amputated, one about a year ago, and the other several years ago. Mr. Archer was born in Adams County, June 9, 1859. He is survived by his widow and three children: Mrs. Gus Smith of Midland, Mich., and Sherman and Pearl of Pleasant Mills. One grandson, Harold Archer, has been making his home with Mr. and Mrs. Archer. Several brothers and sisters survive, also. Koos, 76, of 901 Cresent Ave., Fort Wayne, a native of Adams County, died at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Parkview memorial hospital in that city, following an illness of three weeks. Mr. Koos retired six years ago from the Lincoln National Bank & Trust Co., where he had worked in the mortgage and loan department for 35 years. He was born in St. Mary's Township February 26, 1882, a son of George and Catherine Lillich-Koos. His wife, the former Stella McFarland, died 10 years ago. Mr. Koos was a member of the Plymouth Congretional Church. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Eli Torrance of Minneapolis, Minn., and Miss Arna McFarland of Ashland, Wis.; four brothers, Bernon [sic] Koos of Enid, Okla., Walters Koos, Adams County Assessor, and Edward Koos, both of Decatur; and Benjamin Koos of Ames Ia.; and one sister, Mrs. Philip Rash of Portland. COPPESS DIES THIS MORNING Calvin J. Coppess, 59, resident of Coppess Corner and operator of the Coppess Corner service station, died of a heart attack today about 2 a.m. . He was the son of Frank and Minnie LeBrun Coppess, being born Aug. 24, 1899, in Washington township. He married Marie Jones, who survives, on March 21, 1925. Mr. Coppess, a graduate of Monroe high school, worked at the Decatur G. E. plant before moving to Coldwater, Mich. in 1930 to become manager of the Kroger store there. He returned in 1935 to open the Coppess Corner service station. He was a member of the Decatur Masonic lodge. Survivors besides his wife are two children, Richard Coppess and Mrs. Richard (Jean) Colter, both of Coppess Corner; a brother, Albert Coppess of Monroe; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Foley of Preble; and four grandchildren. One son preceded him in death. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Zwick funeral home, the Rev. C. N. Van Gundy officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. Brandyberry, 63, veteran employe of the Decatur General Electric Co. plant until his retirement, died suddenly at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening at his home, 607 Marshall Street. He was born at Monroe Aug. 2, 1899, a son of Dennis and Ella Wisler-Brandyberry, and was married to Lena Pearson October 19, 1920. Mr. Brandyberry was employed as an inspector at the G. E. plant for 33 years until his retirement in November of 1961 because of ill health. Surviving in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Robert A. (Anna) Miller and two grandsons, Stephen and Timothy. The son-in-law is a missionary in Europe, but the family is presently in the United States on furlough. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Zwick funeral home, the Rev. W. R. Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. DAVIDSON Mrs. Betty M. Davidson, 55, 811 West Monroe Street, wife of Leoniel "Smoke" Davidson, died at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Adams County Memorial Hospital, where she had been several hours. She and her husband operated Davidson TV there. She also had been an employee of the Decatur General Electric Co., for seven years following World War II. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Ladies of the Elks. She had been in failing health for the past year. Born in Wren, Ohio on December 10, 1923, she was the daughter of John F. and Leona A. Welker-Shook, and was married to Leoniel L. (Smoke) Davidson on March 30, 1946. Survivors include the husband; the mother, a resident of Decatur; one daughter, Mrs. John (Pamula) Kenney, Decatur; one brother, Bill Shook, Decatur; and one granddaughter. One brother, Ermel, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Zwick Funeral Home, with Rev. Sylvester Martin officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today and the Women of the Moose will hold services at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
