Hullinger, 81, Lima, Ohio, a former Decatur resident, died Wednesday in Lima. He was born in Decatur on October 15, 1912 to Abraham and Eltza Burry Hullinger and was a retired painter and a former employe of the Krick and Tindall Tile Co. in Decatur. Among survivors are two sons, including Martin Hullinger, Decatur; and five daughters, including Mary Lou Thieme and Mrs. Dewey (Jean) Foreman, both of Decatur. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Haggard and Armes Funeral Home, Decatur, with burial in Ray Cemetery, west of Monroe. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday. E. Smith in the county clerk's office. Their happiness was short lived for yesterday morning Mr. Marquart was accidently drowned in the reservoir at Lima, Ohio, and tonight at seven o'clock the body will arrive at Rivarre over the Erie and will be taken to the house of his step-father, James Harmon at that place. Word of the death was received here at nine o'clock last evening by telegram by Mrs. Marquart's half-brother, Sam Cottrell who resides in the Haugk property near the north bridge. A short time thereafter Mrs. Cottrell talked with the undertaker at Lima, Ohio, who stated the drowning occurred yesterday morning in the reservoir and was accidental. Further particulars are unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Marquart had gone to Lima last Friday where they expected to make their home and where Mr. Marquart had secured employment, the nature of which is unknown here at this time. Mr. Marquart was born December 24, 1891, and at death was twenty-six years of age. He was the son of Jack E. and Neva Johnson Marquart. The mother later married James Harmon but is now deceased. The boy made his home with his step-father, but had served in the navy for four years, returning here only a year ago. He is survived by a half-sister, Elsie Harmon Death of Rivarre. When the couple were married here two weeks ago, they remained over night as guests of their brother, Sam Cottrell and family and were also guests at the Cottrell home in this city a week ago Sunday. The step-father, Mr. Harmon and Joe and Isaac Rash, brothers of Mrs. Marquart, left this morning for Lima to accompany the body here, which will be met at the Rivarre station by the Gay, Zwick & Myers ambulance from this city. Fort Wayne News & Sentinel, Allen County, Indiana; May 15 1918 DECATUR BOY DROWNED IN CANAL AT LIMA, O (Special to the News) DECATUR, Ind., - May 13 - The body of Ray Marquart, 26, who was drowned in a canal at Lima, O., was brought to Rivarre last evening, and taken to the home of his step-father, James Harman. Mr. Marquart was married only 2 weeks ago to Leona Rash in this city and they had gone to Lima last Friday to make their home. Gay, Zwick and Myer's ambulance met the body at the train. Serious internal injuries were suffered. An open funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in the U. B. Church Yard at Bobo. Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Allen Co, IN; Wednesday, October 23, 1918 Decatur, Oct. 22 - Injuries received by Audrey Mary, 2-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Andrews, Saturday afternoon in a fall from a wagon, resulted in her death Monday afternoon at the home of her grandfather, John Thatcher, near Bobo. The little tot was riding in the wagon when the door came open and she fell forward behind the horses, striking a step in the fall, and one of the front wheels passed over her body. LEHMAN Leslie B. Lehman, 85, Berne, died at 6:40 p.m. Saturday in Swiss Village Retirement Center after a long illness. He was born on September 23, 1908 in Adams County to Burkhart and Lydia Sprunger Lehman and married Naomi Neuenschwander on August 24, 1937. She survives. He was president of First Bank of Berne, retiring in 1978 after a 50-year career. He was a former member of the Berne Rotary Club, Berne Chamber of Commerce, and Berne Board of Education, and was on the board of directors at Swiss Village. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Berne, and was a former member of its Men's Chorus, Chancel Choir, and Mennonite Choral Society. He was also a trustee and treasurer of the church. Other survivors are three sons, Thomas Lehman, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Neil Lehman, Indiana, Pennsylvania; and George Lehman, North Newton, Kansas; a daughter, Mary L. Yoder, Goshen; and 11 grandchildren. Deceased are three sisters (Molly Neuenschwander, Cora Nussbaum, and Viola Stetler), and seven brothers, (Leo, Herman, Elmer, Albert, Reuben, Harley and Harry Lehman). Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Mennonite Church, with burial in MRE Cemetery, Berne. GASE, 58, DIES AT LOCAL HOSPITAL FOLLOWING SHORT ILLNESS George L. Gase, 58, well known Root Township farmer and respected citizen, died at the Adams County Memorial Hospital at 12:50 o'clock this morning following an emergency operation he underwent Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Gase was ill for only a few days prior to his operation. The deceased lived on a farm in Root township since he was nine years old and was well known here. He is the father of George Jr. who was killed by an automobile Friday evening, January 2, 1931, as he was walking to this city to particpate in a basketball game. George Gase was born in Seneca County, April 7, 1872, the son of Paul and Anna M. Gase. On May 5, 1898 he was united in marriage to Johanna Bogner who survives together with the following children: Herman Gase of Cascade, Iowa; John Gase of Riverside, Iowa; Leo Gase of Detroit, Michigan; Raphael, Norbert and Lawrence Gase, all of Fort Wayne; Jerome, Hubert, Mary and Agnes Gase all at thome. One son and one daughter preceded the deceased in death. One grandchild also survives. The following brothers and sisters survive the deceased: Albert Gase of Tarentum, Pa.; Mrs. Lucy Roswog of Kokomo; Philbert E. Gase and Edward Gase of this city; Sylvester Gase of Fort Wayne; Paul L. Gase of Allegheny County, Pa.; Sister Mary Paula, Convent of Poor Clare, Cleveland, O.; and Sister Mary Mechtilde, Convent of Mercy, Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Gase was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the order of St. Francis. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at nine o'clock at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Father J. J. Seimetz officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Gase, died at the Adams County Memorial Hospital at 8:50 p.m. Saturday after a several month's illness of coomplications. She was born April 5, 1875, in Seneca County, O., the daughter of John and Mary Zahm-Bogner. She was married to George L. Gase May 5, 1898. Mrs. Gase was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the St. Mary's ___ and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Survivors include the following children: Herman, at home; John of Riverside, IA; Leo of Detroit; Raphael, Norbert and Lawrence, all of Fort Wayne; Hubert of Decatur; Mrs. Lawrence Beckmeyer of Decatur and Mrs. Frank Rindler of Maria Stein, O.; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Austin Straub of Cambridge City; William Bogner and Otto Bogner of Branch, Mich., Mrs. Theresa Upheil of Huntington; Robert Bogner of Enfanta, Ala.; and Lawrence of Fort Wayne. A son, George was killed when struck by an auto January 2, 1931; another son, Jerome was killed in an auto accident Aug 12, 1938; and a daughter died when one and one--half years of age. He was born on August 20, 1907 in Hoagland to William and Bertha Hoffman Melcher and married Emma Reifsteck on September 3, 1932; she survives. He retired after a 25-year career as a milk hauler for Allen Dairy and was also a retired brickmason. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church (Flatrock) and a member of Brickmason's Local 2 for 30 years. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. James (Marlene) Stover, St. Paul, Ohio; and Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Shepherd, Troy, Ohio; two sons, Fred Mechler, Cincinnati, Ohio and Stephen Melcher, New Haven; two sisters, Loretta Scheumann, and Helen Melcher, both of Decatur; a brother, Carl Melcher, route 8, Decatur; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren. Rodenbeck, 92, a former Decatur resident, died at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday in Brighton Hall Nursing Home, New Haven, where she had been a patient since May, 1989. She had been in failing health the past two years. A resident of Fort Wayne and lived there for eight years.(sic). She was born in Allen County on March 20, 1899. A homemaker, she was married to Otto W. Rodenbeck; he died February 8, 1954. Four sisters and five brothers are also deceased. Survivors include two sons, Edwin Rodenbeck, Bluffton, and Ralph Rodenbeck, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zwick, Sefton & Jahn Funeral Home, Rev. Sylvester Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery. Death was said to have been due to kidney trouble and a complication of ailments. Mr. Crum was born in Ohio, April 22, 1854. He was a son of Daniel and Elizabeth Crum. When a young man, Mr. Crum came to Adams county with his parents and their family and has since resided in this county. Mr. Crum never married. He is survived by two brothers, J. G. Crum and J. M. Crum, both of Adams county. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Zion church.
