    2. This is John Peterson in Ozona, Florida. Born and raised in Decatur, In. It is hard for me to do research in Adams Co. I like to add stories and recollections of the area in years past. This gives me and whoever is looking at my genealogy a glimpse of what life was like in the past. Anyone willing to post some stories of early Adams Co. occassionly? Researching: Peterson, Boice, Linton, Neukom, Blossom, Whitwer in Adams Co., Indiana. Have a joyous holiday...........John and Linda Peterson

    3. LUHRSEN/LUEHRSEN Though I am not actively researching ancestors for this family, I do have what is believed to be all the information available on the LUHRSEN/LUEHRSEN family which settled in Iroquois County, Illinois, with major branches migrating to Adams and Allen (many in the city of Fort Wayne) Counties, Indiana and in Ohio, available on my website at the URL appearing in my mail header. Since the surname LUHRSEN is mostly gone from those branches, I suggest you take a look at the Surname List for a quick check. From my index page, go to Family Links to reach the Luhrsen link. The site has been "sanitized;" that is, even though precise dates appear only for those known to be deceased or over the age of 70, I frequently have those dates available. -- Loretta Iroquois County ILGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~iliroquo/index.htm Ford County ILGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilford/index.htm KRUMWIEDE * SPREHE * HILGENDORF * HARTKE * LUHRSEN/LUEHRSEN * THEESFELD/THEESFIELD

    3. Tim asked for successes and I've had several in the last month or two: ROOP: have added some IA and MT branches to that family Would love to find some information on my gg grandmother, wife of Joseph ROOP. Elizabeth KEMP(t) b. 24 Jul 1816, OH m. 10 May 1836 d. 22 Dec 1891, Decatur, IN WILLIAMS: thanks to Nola Rains, I have gone one generation back on on Jesse Williams who lived in Adams Co. much of his life. His father, Elijah WILLIAMS m. Catherine KING, then Cora Elizabeth DUNBAR and had bunches of children: Jesse's daughter, Mary Ellen "Ella" Williams (c1859, Root Twp-1880, Adams Co) m. Victor S. REED. REED: John H. REED (Victor's father) died in 1904 in Adams Co. Newspaper articles listed him as being the oldest living Civil War Vet in IN. John m. two SPANGLER sisters (have children of both and lots on the Spanglers), but I have not been able to find his place of birth or anything about his parents or siblings. The newspaper article said he was born in 1799 in Plattsburg, VT, but Plattsburg is in NY. John's Civil War papers say he was born in 1816 in Virginia, VT, but there is no such place. The closest is Vergennes, VT, but can't find him there either. COFFMAN: still looking for information about David S. & Rebecca Coffman (1813-1872). Their daughter, Mary E. COFFMAN m. Henry HOWER in 1850, Adams Co. I have lots to share on the Hower family, but know nothing else about the Coffman family. The Roop Reunion Book is now online at http://www.angelfire.com/la/ancestors/Roop3.html I would love to know if there was anything in the Decatur papers about these reunions. I understand they were quite large, so they may have made the papers c1914. Any cousins Roop, Reed, Hower, Spangler, Coffman, or Williams cousins out there? Margie R. 3. I have only a couple of surnames from Adams County. MOORE: Allen D. Moore, born in Kentucky, ca 1853. Son of Moses Moore and Julia Hines Crow Moore. Married Savannah Smith in Howard County, Indiana on 13 January, 1881. Lived in Geneva, Adams County, Indiana in 1908. Died in Adams County on 04 June, 1915. MOORE: Edith Moore, born May, 1890 in Howard County, Indiana. Lived with her father, Allen Moore, in Geneva in 1908. Married Clifton L. FISHER in Decatur, Adams County, Indiana on 29 May, 1911. Lived in Wells County after her marriage. I have no information on the rest of her life other than that she had one son whose name is listed variously as Lake Dalton Fisher, Dalton D. Fisher, and Albert Fisher. Clifton FISHER died in an accident in 1913. It's likely that Edith remarried but I have no information on that. Her son died in Japan in June, 1951 and his obituary states that his mother was already deceased. MOORE; Walter D. Moore, born ca July, 1886 in Howard County. Son of Allen and Savannah....brother of Edith. Lived in Adams County after the family moved there sometime after 1890. Left there probably before 1915. Allen Moore and Savannah Smith Moore had one other daughter whose name was Alice. She, also was born in Howard County, Indiana in April, 1882. I have no information about her other than her name and birthdate.

    3. I have Emily as marrying John Smith & Calinda as marrying Amos Brandyberry & have the Adams CO IN Marriage records as my source. We can't both be right so will need to double check this, obviously! There were at least THREE Emily Majors: the one already mentioned, Emily A. Major b. 1850 d/o David Major & his 3rd wife Sarah Jane Bloom, & lastly Emily Major b. 1834 married 1851 in Adams CO to Robert GINTER, this Emily was the d/o my William Major & Rachel Watkins. As for R. E. Smith, I have you as my source so we must have discussed this in the past! Ha! doesn't look like we resolved anything does it? Maybe we need to untangle this group.....famous last words!
