    1. [INADAMS-L] Yearbook Lookups
    2. Loretta Krumwiede Barlow
    3. I have one -- ONE -- yearbook for Concordia Teachers' College, River Forest, Illinois, 1963. Again, this is the ONLY year I have a yearbook for. It is indexed. I will have this book for only TWO MORE WEEKS because I am going to deposit it at the Iroquois County Genealogical Society, Watseka, Illinois, because so many people in that county or who have family connections to that county are pictured in the book (yours truly, included) As a point of reference, persons who attended CTC River Forest in 1963 would now be between 52 and 58 years of age. Faculty and staff are, of course, another matter entirely. The book is indexed and I will be happy to scan photographs. DEADLINE: for lookups in the index, April 8; for scans, April 3 for the request. -- Loretta Iroquois County ILGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~iliroquo/ Ford County ILGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilford/ Iroquois County Genealogical Society http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilicgs/

    3. Divorce records should be in the County Clerk's office. I've not researched them in Adams Co., but I have seen them in the Noble County Clerk's office. I don't have information about accessibility or copying, but you can call the office and check before you make the trip. 1. Re: [INADAMS-L] Obits
    2. Hi Tom, You can: get them at the Decatur library or get them on loan from the Indiana Historical Society (317) 232-1882 (I have been getting the Decatur papers here at my library). They will send up to 5 reels at a time. They have the Berne Witness Sept 1910-Aug 1912, Feb 1942-Sept 1974. Anything else will possibly be in the Decatur papers since they have a section in them on Berne news. Leslie

    3. My Great Grandmother died in 1888 northeast of Berne. I assume that her obit appeared in a Berne newspaper. Where should one begin to look for said obit? Are old Berne newspapers on film at the Berne library, or is Decatur a more likely place to find it? 1. Re: [INADAMS-L] Campmeeting
    2. Norman L. Runyon
    3. Justine, Camp meetings were religious revival services sponsored by one or more churches. Usually a large tent was set up for the meetings, since no one church would be big enough to handle the crowds. As a bare minimum there would be a preaching service every evening and the meetings would last for at least a week. If the turnout was great enough to warrant it, the services would often be extended to two or more weeks. I don't know about the social side of it but, anytime you have a large group of people meeting together every evening, I would imagine that there may have people sharing the evening meal at least. Camp meeting was, also, a popular place to take your date for the evening. Obviously, this was not a winter event. 1. [INADAMS-L] Posting Wills, Deeds and Obits
    2. Tim Singleton
    3. Hi Everyone, Many of you have visited or used the Query "Board" for Adams Co. that I have set up using the GenConnect system. I've now added three new "Boards" for your research help...Wills, Deeds and Obituaries. They look and operate much like the query boards, EXCEPT that they are read-only. To post your material please send it to me and I will post it under your name. To assist me in that process, here are some guidelines: 1. Send the material you want to have posted to me in an email message or attachment (I can convert most types of word processor files). Be aware that special formatting, like tabs or columns will not appear correctly when posted. In your message include your name and email address, along with a list of surnames relevant to the post (one surname per line, please), like the following: Tim Singleton tsingleton@iclub.org SINGLETON MANN KIESS WARNER MCCONNEHEY Here would be the text of the deed, will, etc. 2. In regard to obituaries, I cannot post verbatim transcripts of obits that fall under copyright protection, unless you can provide express, written permission to do so from the copyright holder. In general, anything published after 1924 (75 years ago) should be considered to have copyright protection. Anything prior to that date is generally OK. If you have an obituary that is copyrighted, you can still abstract the factual information for posting to the board...facts cannot be copyrighted, but their presentation (in the form of an obit) can. Thus, you can extract the individuals name, birth date and place, death date and place, family members and relationships etc. and send that information. Deeds and wills are public documents and are not protected. As always, if you're not sure, please ask. 3. Be sure to fully identify the source of the document in as much detail as possible (e.g. "Decatur Daily Democrat, Saturday, March 2, 1907, p. 2, col. 3" or "Adams Co. Law Enforcement Center, Estate of Joseph Mann, Box 178, File 192, Filed January 28, 1878"). 4. Be patient. I'll get the material posted as soon as I can, but there may be delays due to my job and other obligations. If you don't see it posted within a week, send me another email message (not a repeat of the posting) to make sure I got your original message. 5. Have fun and good luck in your research!
