I've added a new link to a prototype search engine for the National Archives. It's on the Adams Co. page about two thirds of the way down, and is marked "new." Posted on: Adams County, In Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Adams?read=553 Surname: Miller, Burrell ------------------------- These Millers would appear to be those from Root Twp with the bio on p. 583 of the 1979 History of Adams Co, IN. Are any descendents still there today? The Burrell family is no doubt the early Burrell's who settled first in Mass > MD about 1627 from England. They migrated into Pa and Oh. John Lenhart 1797-1877 married Rebecca Burrell and they settled in Root Twp, Adams CO 1839. One of John and Rebecca's son, Joseph Lenhart went to Montgomery Co, KS, (just east of where this Bible was purchased). I would guess this Elmer Miller, m. Burrell, went to KS with Joseph Lenhart & others. >From the 1979 Adams Co., IN History Book: ADAMS CO HISTORY BOOK - p. 583, Root Twp "Alva Miller & wife, Margaret May Miller came to Union Twp., Adams Co from Pa in the early eighteen hundreds. Ammi drove the Root Twp school bus for 32 years along wi farming. True L. Miller is listed as veteran of WWI. He purchased a lot in Decatur (p. 66) of the old "Riley" school. " If anyone knows of any present descendents of these families, perhaps they could be notified so they could have this old Bible. Or would the Historical Society be interested?

Posted on: Adams County, In Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Adams?read=548 Surname: ------------------------- Ellenbergers are an elusive bunch. I'd like to have this family figured out myself. In the 1860 Census, French Twp., Adams Co., IN on page 186 we find Abraham Elebarger age 48, with his wife Elizabeth age 57. Both were born in Switzerland. Another source shows that the age difference is correct. Elizabeth died in 1870) and her maiden name was Müller. Children were: Valentine age 22 born in New York Eliza age 21 born in Ohio Louisa age 18 (?) " " Henry age 17 " " Caroline age 16 " " Frederic (?) age 14" " Peter age 13 " In the 1870 census, French Twp., page 19, at the bottom, you'll find Abraham Baumgartner. His wife was Caroline Ellenberger (age 27). Living in their home was Frederick Ellenberger (age 24). Next door lived Henry Ellenberger and wife Catherine. (he was age 26). There is one reference in another source to Mt Eaton, Wayne Co.,OH as a birth place. You might try that 1850 census, although many of the Swiss came in after 1850. I do have some additional information, if you'd like to contact me off list. By the way, Valentine was a common name among the Swiss. . . and it could easily be shortened, or mispelled to Faldine.

Faldine married Salome Walchli/Welkley/Welty around the 1860s. They had a child named William Henry Ellenberger on 1 Nov 1863. When William was between 1 and 3 years old Faldine died in some kind of accident involving a horse and/or wagon. His widow left Berne, Indiana and walked to Beaverdam, OH to live. She met and married Isaac Hilty and had several more children. I would like to find any kind of information on the Ellenberger family in Adams County that can tied to Faldine.
