Johnson, 75, who resided one and one-fourth miles south of Monroe, died at 2:26 a.m. today at the Adams county memorial hospital following an illness of three months. She was born in Adams county Aug. 13, 1885, a daughter of Eli W. and Mary Ellen Reffey-Hendricks, and was married to Sylvester Z. Johnson March 12, 1904. Her husband preceded her in death June 10, 1936. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Monroe Methodist church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. H. L. (Thelma) Smith of Defiance, O.; two sons, Meredith W. Johnson, at home, and Robert W. Johnson of Decatur; one grandson, Joseph Michael Johnson, and two brothers, Roy Hendricks of Bluffton, and Noah Hendricks of Decatur. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Monroe Methodist church, the Rev. Vernon Riley officiating, assisted by the Rev. A. E. Burk. Burial will be in the Decatur cemetery. The body was taken to the Gillig & Doan funeral home and will be removed to the Lobenstein funeral home in Monroe, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Hartzog, aged 76, died at her home 720 Elm Street, in this city, last night at nine o'clock after an illness of about a half hour. Death was due to hemorrhages. Mrs. Hartzog had been in ill health for some time, but her condition was not thought to be serious until about eight o'clock. She continued to grow worse until death relieved her. Mrs. Hartzog was born at Willshire, Ohio, and later moved to this city. Her first husband, William Harrison preceded her in death several years ago and she was united in marriage to William Hartzog who survives. She also is survived by five children: Mrs. Ed Wiley, Cleveland; Mrs. J. A. Speck, Cleveland; Mrs. D. L. Bennett, Hammond; J. S. Harrison of Logansport; and Charles Harrison of Los Angeles. Four brothers and one sister are living, also two sisters having preceded her in death. Mrs. Hartzog was a member of the First Christian Church of this city, and, until ill health prevented it, was a devoted attendant of all the church's services. Complete arrangements have not yet been made for the funeral. The plans are awaiting word from her son in Los Angeles, but it is probable that the services will be held Wednesday and the remains placed in a vault awaiting the arrival of her son before interment. The Reverend H. W. Thompson of the Christian church will officiate and burial will take place at the Decatur Cemetery. Further arrangements for the funeral will be made... Teeple, of this city. Mr. Dailey was a veteran of the civil war and was well known among the older residents of the county. He moved his family from Adams count to Kankakee, Illinois, several years ago. Mrs. Dailey died at Kankakee, when their three daughters and one son were all young. Mr. Dailey kept the family together until the children grew up and married. For the last few years he has lived with his daughter in Hastings. Funeral services will be held in Kankakee, on Monday.
