A graduate of International Business College and retired from Dunbar Furniture in 1982 after 30 years, she was executive secretary to the president of Dunbar. She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church, the church choir, and was founder of the Elderberries (senior citizens organization), which was formed in the fall of 1982. She also was a member of Christian Women's Club of Decatur. Born in Adams County on April 9, 1919, she was the daughter of Raymond and Leona Rash Marquart (sic; should be Marquette), and was married June 25, 1944, to Howard David Nussbaum; he survives. Also surviving are a son, Rick Nussbaum, Fort Wayne, and a daughter, Lalah Flynn, Columbus, Ohio. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Monroe United Methodist Church. Rev. Rash, 76, Decatur, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday in Adams County Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 22, 1924 in Decatur to Joseph and Marguerite Mayer Rash and married Betty L. Bohde on July 7, 1945, she survives. He worked at the General Electric Co. plant in Fort Wayne, then was a dispatcher for the Decatur Police Department for several years until retiring. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur. Mr. Rash was a paratrooper in the U S. Army in Europe during World War II and was captured and spent six months in a German prisoner of war camp. However, he managed to escape and made it to Paris, France, just in time for the celebration on V. E. (Victory in Europe) Day in May of 1945. Other survivors are a son, Ted A. Rash of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. (Billie May) Kruse of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Chris (Sandra S.) Ranly, of Columbia, South Carolina; a brother, Lawrence "Joe" Rash of Evansville, formerly a rural Decatur resident; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Virginia) Scott of Florida; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son and a sister are deceased. Mayer February 19, 1921. Mr. Rash was employed for many years as custodian at the Decatur post office until his retirement. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and the American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Lawrence E. (Joe) Rash of Decatur, and Carl F. Rash of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Virginia) Scott of Fayetteville, N.C. and Mrs. Oren C. Kiracofe, 82, of Convoy, Ohio, a native of Willshire Twp., died at 8 p.m. Sunday at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1906, the son of James Stewart and Mary Emma Taylor-Kiracofe, and was married March 16, 1929 to Margaret E. Bollenbacher (sic; should be Bollenbaugh). Survivors include the wife; 2 sons, Bruce Kiracofe, Lafayette, O., and Larry Kiracofe, Van Wert; four daughters, Mrs. Joann Darling, Convoy; Mrs. John (Shirley) Flickinger, Van Wert; Mrs. Cecil (Brenda) Foust, Convoy; Mrs. Jean (Judy) Foust, Van Wert; a brother, Dallas Kiracofe, Willshire; a sister, Estey Kiracofe, Coldwater, O.; 25 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. He retired from Scott Elevator in 1973 and was a member of the Convoy United Brethren in Christ Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, with Revs. Robert Shook and George Cole officiating. Burial will be in Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are to Convoy United Brethren in Christ Church or the Convoy EMS. Feb. 23, 1988 Robert W. Bowman, 92, of near Craigville, brother of LaVern Bowman, Decatur, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday at Caylor-Nickel Hospital, Bluffton. He had been residing at Ossian Health Care. Born Oct. 23, 1895, in Wells County, he was a son of John A. and Eliza Archbold-Bowman. His marriage to Celia Beatrice Eichhorn, who died Nov. 9, 1953, took place March 4, 1920 in Wells County. He was a member of Lancaster Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired sawmill owner and operator and farmer. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Jarrett, Fort Wayne; a son, Dale E. Bowman, rural Craigville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Harris, Bluffton and Mrs. Elbert Havens, Keystone; four brothers, George D. Bowman, Bluffton; Howard Bowman, Keystone; LaVern Bowman, Decatur, and Virgil Bowman, Arroyo Grande, Calif.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at Thoma-Rich Funeral Home, Bluffton, where services will be held at 1:30 pm. Wednesday, Rev. Stephanie Hill and Rev. Michael Overpeck officiating.
